Song of the Dawn

Residence of the beleaguered city of Tel'Vinrae were treated to an amazing and mysterious performance this morning. In the still moments just before the sun began to rise, the gentle notes of a lightly caressed lyre drifted through the air from the center of the town, somehow seeming to come down from the very heavens. After a few moments, the notes were joined by by a powerful yet gentle baritone. Soft at first, soothing, like a lullaby. Yet somehow melancholy, sad. . . as if acknowledging the pain those hearing it suffered.
As the first rays of the sun peeked over the horizon, the song changed. The key changed from minor to major. Some strange, otherworldly magic seemed to strengthen it, carrying it to every corner of the city. Instead of sadness, the voice carried passionate tones of love, hope, defiance, and rebirth. The ears of the sick as well as the ears of the well drank in the song, which built to a spine tingling and soulrendingly passionate crescendo.
The tongue could not be understood by many. Primal and beautiful, yet somehow alien, some people were unnerved, yet others could not help but sense it's meaning was indeed good. Even those suffering from the plague somehow felt braver and more optimistic afterwards.
The singer was never found. . .
