Hey Everyone,
So if you're like me, from time to time you find yourself having a chat in Skype and you want to post something surrounded by action brackets. In the chats, many of us use ** To surround our text when denoting actions. In programming, /* followed by */ Denotes comments in HTML. Unfortunately, recent updates to Skype would make:
*Bob walks into the tavern, sitting down for a drink* Hey guys! *he says to all his friends*
Into:
Bob walks into the tavern, sitting down for a drink Hey Guys! he says to all his friends
Which is, to say the least, an annoying occurrence. In the latest release of Skype, a method of disabling this has been included. Note: this command must be entered in ANY chat window, and will allow you to use ** again freely. However, when you restart your session (close Skype and reopen it later) it is very probable you will have to enter the command again. It's tedious, but the outcry has been tremendous on the Skype forums and, hopefully, a much easier checkbox in preferences will be added eventually to disable this feature.
For now though, type the following command into your chat box:
/setupkey *Lib/Conversation/EnableWiki 0
If this command is entered correctly, you should see Skype display: " setupkey: [*Lib/Conversation/EnableWiki] now '0' " as though you posted it to the chat (though, the other person does not see this).
This command will disable the Bolded ** text for you and hopefully make Skype a more enjoyable experience. I know it helps me when writing freaking HTML code to people!
Also note: if you want to re-enable the commands, just type "1" instead of "0" at the end of the above pasted command, and it will re-enable the ** bolding and such.
Thanks,
