Sacred Stalkers in the Game
Sacred Stalkers are rangers who have chosen to train with a religious organization in order to focus their abilities on hunting down and destroying the undead. Often serving deities such as Shaedriel, their extremely specialized training allows them unmatched skill at dispatching such abominations, but leaves them only mediocre combatants against all other foes.
Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Sacred Stalker.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency
A Sacred Stalker is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, and with light armor and shields (except tower shields).
Favored Enemy [Ex]
Sacred Stalkers are only allowed to select undead as their favored enemy. This ability otherwise functions exactly as the ranger ability of the same name.
Track
The Sacred Stalker gains the Track feat at first level for free.
Turn Undead (Su)
The Sacred Stalker has the power to harm or even destroy undead creatures by channeling the power of his faith through his holy symbol (see Turn or Rebuke Undead). He may turn undead as a cleric of his level.
Combat Style (Ex)
At 2nd level, a Sacred Stalker must select one of two combat styles to pursue: archery or two-weapon combat. This choice affects the character’s class features but does not restrict his selection of feats or special abilities in any way.
If the Sacred Stalker selects archery, he is treated as having the Rapid Shot feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat.
If the Sacred Stalker selects two-weapon combat, he is treated as having the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat.
The benefits of the Sacred Stalker's chosen style apply only when he wears light or no armor. He loses all benefits of his combat style when wearing medium or heavy armor.
Combat Style progresses the same as for a normal ranger.
Endurance (Ex)
A Sacred Stalker gains Endurance as a bonus feat at 3rd level.
Life Lock (Su)
At 4th level, the Sacred Stalker becomes especially resistant to all ability damage, energy drain, disease, paralyzation and negative energy effects originating from the undead. She gains a +4 sacred bonus to saves against these attacks, and if the attacks do not allow a save, she instead has a 50% chance to ignore it completely.
Spells
A Sacred Stalker casts spells as a ranger, but uses a different, highly specialized spell list. Consult the table below for the spells a Sacred Stalker may prepare.
1st: Alarm, Disrupt Undead, Endure Elements, Cure Light Wounds, Hide from Undead, Detect Undead, Jump, Longstrider, Magic Weapon, Protection from Evil, Pass Without a Trace
2nd: Consecrate, Cure Moderate Wounds, Undetectable Alignment, Restoration [Lesser], Speak with Dead
3rd: Remove Curse, Cure Serious Wounds, Magic Circle Against Evil, Remove Disease, Searing Light
4th: Death Ward, Cure Critical Wounds, Disrupting Weapon, Undeath to Death, Restoration [Greater], Nondetection, Freedom of
Movement
Greater Turning (Su)
At 7th level, the Sacred Stalker gains the ability to perform a Greater Turning, as if through the Sun Domain, once per day. If he already has Greater Turning from another source, he may instead perform an additional Greater Turning per day.
Swift Tracker (Ex)
Beginning at 8th level, a Sacred Stalker can move at his normal speed while following tracks without taking the normal -5 penalty. He takes only a -10 penalty (instead of the normal -20) when moving at up to twice normal speed while tracking.
Mettle (Ex)
A Sacred Stalker's special training allows her to shrug off magical effects that would otherwise harm her. If a Sacred Stalker makes a successful Will or Fortitude saving throw that would normally reduce the spell's effect, she suffers no effect from the spell at all. Only those spells with a Saving Throw entry of "Will partial," "Fortitude half," or similar entries can be negated through this ability.
Hide in Plain Sight (Ex)
At 13th level, the Sacred Stalker gains the ability to hide even while being observed.
