The origins of Clan Oathbreaker begins in Haragurum, while it was still considered the capitol of the dwarven nations. The tendency towards smithing and crafting for dwarves have always been a strong one, and only the best got the opportunity to obtain a position at this marvelous city. In order to claim this position, they would be required to swear fealty to the King of Haragurum, and enter a guild of crafters, who produced for the city at a set rate, regardless of the quality or number of items they were tasks to complete. Though the pay was considerable, there was no room for frivolous embellishing and of the quality of the output by a person seemed less that of another prospective smith, he would be released from his duties. This kept the quality of work high, and the output manageable.
That was until the Imperium gained the alliance of the city of Haragurum. When the announcement was made, so where many promises of prosperity and fortune to those who remained. Many of those who tended the forge saw this as a delighted opportunity, others disillusioned that nothing would change or not caring, many others took this opportunity to make their way back to their home clans, who were still accepting of the return of their brethren from the “fallen city”. It was not immediate that the effects where noticed, as the lies and treachery calmed many of the forge workers, giving them assurances of greater pay and improved lifestyles for their families as the pay for the work was reduced slowly, but steadily.
It was years later when a large portion of the crafters, when spurred by a number of other dwarven specialists within the city to take their tools and make for the promise of good work and steady need for their craft in the newly budded city of Tel Vinrae. They stole away in the night, an exodus of over a hundred dwarven soldiers, tinkers, stonemasons and smiths walking through the caverns to the south, emerging into the wilds and beginning their voyage to their future.
The dwarves where welcomed warmly into the forming city, for it was the stonemasons which designed and led the construction of their walls and governmental buildings. The masterful smiths arming the forces which were destined to guard it from harm, and naturally the hardy dwarven soldiers where enlisted happily into the ranks of the guard.
The warriors having found a ready place for themselves among the ranks, The remaining dwarves, always forward thinkers, Realized that one day the city would grow no more, and there would no longer be a place for them with in the elven dominated metropolis. It was then that the dwarven smiths, tinkers and stonemasons formed together, all having been removed from the annuals of their clan, and forsaken by the city in which they had sworn fealty to, formed a clan of their own. Clan Oathbreaker, Named after the sting of accusations which assailed them from their former home, as a reminder that they would not again become a slave to any person or organization, but a family who operated together and with the interest of the clan foremost above all. They established a formidable structure, not far from the tower, and have since been the supplier of high quality items and masterful structures to the city of Tel Vinre
