Each character may have up to two flaws. If they take both, they may choose a bonus trait at creation. Flaws do not grant bonus feats per the SRD. For more information, please see the following thread: www.telvinrae.boards.net/thread/22/traits
Child Soldier
From a young age, you were forced into military service as the scars of battle all but shattered your young psyche, leaving you emotionally stunted.
Drawback: You take a -2 penalty to Sense Motives & Diplomacy checks.
Former Slave
You were once a slave. Now, you have your freedom but little else.
Drawback: At character creation, you receive no starting gold. There may be other IC repercussions as well. This Flaw is heavily restricted.
Wastelander
You lived in the Burning Wastes, either because you pick valuables from the dead for profit or desperation. It has taken a toll on your health and given you a ghoulish reputation.
Drawback: You take a -2 penalty to Fortitude saves and a -4 penalty to Diplomacy.
Traitor
You betrayed very powerful people. Perhaps you were once an officer of the empire or a member of a thieves' guild. Either way, while you have some degree of safety within Tel Vinrae you are not respected.
Drawback: You take a -4 to all Charisma-based skills against the faction. There may be other IC repercussions as well.
Cursed
Whether you're cursed by the gods or simply have horrible luck, you seem to always have the worse things happen to you.
Drawback: You take a -1 penalty to all saves. In addition, enemies gain +2 to attack rolls to confirm critical hits against you.
Loss of a Limb (Arm)
Whether you lost a limb in combat of through an unfortunate accident, you are missing an arm.
Drawback: You lack an arm. Obviously, that means that you can only use one. You cannot equip anything in your off hand and you receive -2 to any skill check that would require the use of both hands. Some things might even be impossible at DM discretion.
Loss of a Limb (Leg)
Whether you lost a limb in combat of through an unfortunate accident, you are missing a leg.
Drawback: You lack a leg. While you can get a cheaply-made prosthetic (even if its a peg leg) you take a 5 ft. penalty on speed and a -2 to Penalty on all Dexterity-based skill checks.
Deaf
You are deaf, either through some birth defect or some tragic accident. No magic has been able to heal you.
Drawback: You are deaf, suffering all penalties affected by it. This cannot be cured.
Blind
You are blind, either through some birth defect or some tragic accident. No magic has been able to heal you.
Drawback: You are blind, suffering all penalties affected by it. This cannot be cured.
Runt
You are overly small for a creature of your race.
Taking this flaw means that you suffer all penalties for being small sized as per a normal, small sized creature. (3/4 Carrying Capacity, 2/3 Movement Speed, Smaller Weapons, Penalties and Disadvantages on special attacks such as Grapple)
Drawback: You cannot take this flaw if your creature size is normally small. You MUST take this flaw if you take the Runt Trait. Taking this flaw in combination with the Runt Trait does not count towards the two flaws required to take an additional trait.
In addition to these flaws listed, you can choose flaws from the SRD. Additional Flaws can be found here.
