Wizards in the Academy of Philosophies are able to scribe spells into their spell book for no cost, unless they are getting the spell from a wizard that wants to charge them.
If the Wizard does not have a companion with the right spells in their book, they can purchase the spell from the Academy. Spells purchased from the Academy still must be scribed, but have no cost to do the actual scribing (no material cost). The Academy charges 50GP / Spell Level for a spell to be purchased.
You still must roll to understand the spell, or use Read Magic to do so. You can gain AA to your check from other Wizards in reading a spell from a book to scribe it.
There are no discounts for crafting scrolls as a Wizard from the Academy. However, any wizard that is also a member of the Charred Sigils does get their discount at the Arcanium Emporium, which reduces crafting costs appropriately when creating scrolls.
A Non Academy Wizard does not get any discount on scribing spells into his spell book. He does, however, still get access to Sigil's Discounts for scribing scrolls.
