The people of the Ananta Desert follow a dualistic religion where good and evil are in eternal conflict. Twin goddess, one righteous and the other wicked, fight each other of the souls of men. Mazalel, the Goddess of Creation, represents goodness, while her spiteful sister, Rael, symbolizes all the evil in the world. Of course, in reality things are not as black and while; evil men often give lip-service to former goddess while many good people offer prayers to Rael so that she spars them the wrath of the scorching desert son.
The religion believes that in the beginning, both goddesses arose from the primal chaos that Mazalel breathed life into the universe and all things came into the world by her will. Jealous of her sisters creation and how the newly created beings offered her worship, Rael set off to destroy what her sister made beautiful. Since then, it is said, that the two sisters have fought endless - Rael dominant during the day when the hot desert sun is high, Mazalel ruling the night when the darkness beings a refreshing cool.
To outsiders, this seems strange; culturally deities related to the sun are revered as good while those related to night and the darkness are commonly seen as evil. However, perhaps because of the harsh days in the burning sands of the Ananta the reverse is true.
Name: Mazalel, the Light of Evening

Overview of Faith: With the night comes protection from the scorching rays of the sun. While other cultures fear the dark for the evil they believe it brings, they do not understand to true serenity the evening brings. Mazalel brings peace and it from her that all good things come from. She seeks glory for her chosen people, the Akosh (and by extension their wayward cousins the Ajit). Her clergy often are great patrons of the arts, seeking to create things of beauty, and many or artists themselves.
Name: Rael, the Scorcher
Portfolio: Cruelty, Sun, Vice, Vegneace
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Domains: Death, Destruction, Twilight, Sun
Holy Symbol: A black sunburst on a field of white.
Favored Weapon: Kukri
Description: A woman with sandy skin and golden hair, clad in a flowing yellow gown, its color faded by the sun.. She has beautiful but cruel features and carries the sun in her left hand.
Overview of Faith: The sun scorches the earth, bringing death. It is to be feared and respected. Rael hates the children of her sister, although her vanity is said to easily be appeased. Ajit nomads often sing hymns in her name, praising her fierce beauty in hopes for flattering her and earning her favor. Her clergy are especially rare but feared and given quite a bit of freedom in their homelands. Dark rumors state that within the dark priesthood there is clandestine order of cutthroats and murders who offer sacrifices in her name although no proof of such things have ever come to light.
