The Drow, or Dark Elves as some call them are now an enslaved people within Tel Vinrae. They service the Eladrin within their shops and as dock workers, stewards, servants and the like.
It is known that Tel Vinrae was built on top of a Drow civilization, Tel Mirthinael that was founded under the earth. The Drow were once a viscious race, pillaging and killing the Eladrin when they first built Tel Vinrae. Eventually, the High Elves managed to seal off all of the passageways to Tel Mirthinael - except for one: the entrance just outside of what is now the Silver Palace. The Eladrin told them to either stay within Tel Mirthinael and essentially starve, or surrender and serve the High Elves in peace.
The Dark Elves refused, staying within the darkened stone walls. For hundreds of years, they survived within the darkest reaches of the world. However, the High Elves are a patient people, often living longer than any of the mortal races... And eventually, the Drow began to struggle to find food, resulting in them living off of their only source of nutrition: Themselves. When they began killing each other, they finally realized they would face the extinction of their people...
Willingly, most of them surrendered - those still sane of mind and not wanting live out the rest of their days eating their brethren. The Eladrin enslaved them, giving them Mithril Collars. The Drow found, to great surprise, that they mysteriously no longer had to quench their thirst or satiate their hunger. Collared and bound to the High Elves, the Drow pleasantly and willingly serve the Eladrin today.
Though, very few still remain in what was once Tel Mirthinael, free... down there, in the Understone as it is called within Tel Vinrae - feeding off the foolish and weak - prowling the dark underground as free men, but twisted, viscous beings devoid of Morals, savage and cruel animals to what they once were so long ago...
